The Ancient Beehive Tomb (Kuhata Mogila)
Situated in an orchard west of the Pomorie-Burgas highway, the Thracian Beehive Tomb dates to the 2nd to 4th centuries CE. What makes the tomb unusual is its circular chamber and the hollow column rising through the middle.
Visitors walk through a 22-meter stone dromos corridor into a circular chamber measuring 11.6 meters in diameter. A massive hollow brick column, about 5.5 meters high, rises from the center and widens as it meets the circular vaulted ceiling. Inside the hollow column, a spiral staircase once allowed priests to perform mystery cult rituals.
Pomorie Salt Lake & Museum of Salt
Pomorie Lake is an 8.5-square-kilometer hypersaline lagoon where sea salt has been produced for more than 2,500 years. The Museum of Salt preserves working historical salterns, wooden sluice gates, and authentic rail carts used to harvest salt.
Nearby spa and medical centers use the lake's black mud in supervised treatments, particularly for musculoskeletal conditions and other ailments.
